RhinoLite Skimming Plaster

Skimming plaster is a premium gypsum-based finishing plaster used to create a perfectly smooth, white surface on walls and ceilings. Applied as a thin finish coat over gypsum boards or concrete, it fills imperfections, covers joints and screw heads, and creates a hard, paint-ready surface. The fast-drying formula is suitable for both hand and machine application, and requires no pre-treatment on most substrates.

Ultra-Smooth Finish

Creates a hard, smooth surface that significantly reduces paint consumption on the final coat.

Fast Drying

Fast-setting formula increases productivity on site — apply, dry, sand and paint in a single day on small areas.

No Pre-Treatment

Bonds directly to gypsum board, concrete and masonry without a bonding agent on most substrates.

40kg Bags

Available in 40kg bags — sufficient for a full skim of approximately 10–12m² in two coats.

Full skim coat over gypsum boards on ceilings and walls
Skim coat over concrete and masonry in internal renovations
Covering joints, screw heads and surface imperfections
Internal walls and ceilings in residential and commercial projects
How much plaster do I need for a 3m × 3m room?
Jointing only: 1 × 20kg bag. Full skim in two coats over all walls and ceiling: 2–3 × 40kg bags. Bring your room dimensions and we’ll calculate the exact requirement.
Can I use skimming plaster on old painted walls?
Yes, but preparation is critical. Scrape off any loose or flaking paint, sand glossy surfaces, apply bonding liquid as a primer, then skim once it is tacky.
Can I skim over moisture board or fire board?
Yes — skimming plaster bonds well to both moisture board (green liner) and fire board (pink liner). Ensure the surface is clean and dust-free before application.

Metajoint Jointing Plaster

Jointing plaster is a fast-setting gypsum compound specifically formulated for filling the joints between gypsum boards, covering screw heads, and embedding fibreglass mesh tape. Unlike skimming plaster, it is applied before the full skim coat and is designed for gap-filling rather than surface finishing. Its rapid set time accelerates the finishing process on site significantly.

Rapid Setting

Short set times allow multiple coats in a single day, significantly accelerating the taping and finishing schedule.

Strong Bond

Bonds firmly to gypsum board, fibreglass tape and metal beads — resists cracking at joints.

Sandable

Sands to an ultra-smooth finish, leaving no ridges or proud edges at joints before the skim coat.

20kg Bags

Available in 20kg bags — sufficient for all joints and screw heads on both sides of a standard single partition.

Jointing drywall ceilings and partitions — covering board joints and screw heads
Embedding fibreglass mesh tape at board joints
Repairing cracks and patches in existing plasterwork
Surface preparation before a full skim coat
Do I need jointing plaster AND skimming plaster?
For a full plastered finish, yes — use jointing plaster to fill joints and cover screws first, then apply a full skim coat over the entire surface. For a joints-only finish (no full skim), jointing plaster alone is sufficient.
What tape should I use with jointing plaster?
Fibreglass self-adhesive mesh tape — quick to apply, resistant to cracking, and easy to embed with jointing compound. We stock mesh tape alongside our jointing plasters.
Do I need to prime the board before jointing?
Not usually, but prime any raw cut board edges with bonding liquid to prevent the plaster from drying out too quickly and bubbling at those edges.
